About
This is Michael Greenhill
I’m a web developer and systems administrator. Over the years I’ve learned and mastered over a dozen operating systems, various programming languages and differing hardware configurations.
Web development
My strengths are in PHP / MySQL driven websites. I’ve always tried to use the latest technologies – I was an early adopter of CSS3 and PHP5. I’m a strong believer in staying as far ahead of the curve as possible – legacy systems become a legacy because something better is out there, and I want to be 100% on par with that “something better”.
I’ve taken an active role in development team for the SRHC website, and after several years as a senior developer assumed the role of Lead Developer for Railpage for a short while. I am currently the sole developer and manager of the Waverley MRC and Wheelers Hill Secondary College websites.
Under previous employers I’ve developed provisioning tools for regional wireless internet and metropolitan ADSL subscribers and associated billing systems, implemented internal documentation and overhauled a number of support systems.
Systems administration
In my current full-time capacity I co-manage over a dozen physical servers, including two Hyper-V servers hosting additional virtual servers. I’ve developed methods for integrating Ubuntu and openSUSE operating systems into our Windows and Novell network environment.
In past jobs I have designed and deployed many networking solutions for small business, including connecting two locations on either side of Melbourne. I have managed the web hosting, emails and servers of a number of ISPs as well as assisted in the restructuring and long-term management of critical infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP and Radius.
